Children’s rights in Islam

According to Islam, children are entitled to various rights. The first and foremost of these rights is that they be raised and educated properly with adequate guidance on religious, ethical and moral issues. They should be taught about their duties to their Creator, Allah (SWT), their obligations to parents, relatives, friends, neighbors and the Muslim and non-Muslim communities at large. By being always truthful parents will act as a good role model for their children. Children should be taught from their early ages about what is lawful (Halal) and unlawful (Haram) in Islam and the consequences of adopting the “halal” or the “haram” practices in their lives.
Allah (SWT) states in the Glorious Qur’an:
“O ye who believe! Save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones.” (66:6)
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“When the human being dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim)
